10MP PowerShot SD880IS Canon Camera headache

I am a canon fan. But this camera is HORRIBLE. GRAINY, LOTS OF NOISE!! AVOID. Okay, i hate giving bad reviews. But i had a horrible experience with this camera. I bought sd880 for $259 in circuit city. Brought Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP Camera home and took some pics indoors and outdoors. Camera is easy to use. Wheel is very nice touch. But when i downloaded into computer and looked at full sized pics. There was a LOT of noise. I didnt expect this quality from canon. Everything seemed outta focus too.
Then i started reading reviews, and i found this to be known issue for this camera. I mean its a deal breaker. If picture quality is bad what good will 3 inch LCD, 4x zoom and wide angle lens do? I tried to decreasing the mega pixels and problem didnt get resolved. I also changed settings and tried every which way. LOTS of noise. grainy picture.
i couldnt believe that. I thought i got faulty camera. I did an exchange on circuit city. And that new camera had same problem. I gave up today and returned for 15% re-stocking fee.. What a disappointment. Clearly stay away from this camera UNLESS u dont mind grainy pics.. looks horrible.

- I have quickly figured out key functions without reading directions (one of my buyer values.

- I like the zoom as you take the photo as well as the zoom on the resulting image.

- small enough to slide into my pocket like my Blackberry.  However, the buttons are intuitive enough that I can operate the small camera.

- We had a nice (expensive) Nikon from about 7 years ago.  Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP Camera was going to cost $150 to fix.  We decided to put money into new camera.  This was a good choice.  Cameras have improved a lot.

Cons

- Occasionally I accidentally navigate into a mode or function on the camera that I don't understand (partly my issues because I haven't read the manual).  I simply turn the camera off and back on which gets me back to "normal" mode.



Great Group Pictures. Easy to use. The wide angle lenes produces great picture of people in a group. The 3" screen is great for viewing pictures.  I enjoy  Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP Camera .

Canon 8MP PowerShot SD1100IS result

Awesome Camera!!. We took Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP camera on vacation, and the shots we got looked professional. Very user-friendly. The "kids and pets" setting lets you take great pictures even when there is a lot of activity- no blurs. My sister-in-law is a semi-professional photographer, and she is now going to buy one after seeing how fantastic our photos came out. I highly recommend Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP camera!!
Camera purchase review. Excellent service. Very pleased. This was my first purchase, but Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP won't be my last. Will definitely order from them again.
Perfect Camera For Lots Of Different Uses!. I ruined my `Nikon 7900' 7.0 megapixel camera after three great years by getting Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP wet.  This was upsetting as I had the SCUBA encasement for that model and a ton of accessories.  My nephew turned me onto the `Canon SD1100' (as Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP also has an optional SCUBA encasement) and I am very happy.

It has one more megapixel (8.0) capacity for crisper pictures (up to 16 X 22 prints), a larger 2.5-inch LCD monitor and tons of extras.  There is an "Optical Image Stabilizer" which reduces the blur of any camera movement, even with low light.  There is also a cool feature called, "Face Detection WB" which means the camera concentrates upon faces, then Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP calculates "white balance" for the best colors and tones.  You can also just select ONE face among the group to highlight (think Birthday parties)!

There is a cool "red-eye" correction that identifies and corrects red-eye when pictures are taken.  You can also later detect and correct "red-eye" during image playback.

The camera is smaller and thinner than my previous Nikon and Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP fits very easily into any pocket (be careful!).  It's quick, easy and responds readily.  Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP is a great value for the price.  The pictures are just as good (maybe better) than my old camera.  I can't wait to go diving now so I can try the underwater encasement (accessory).  You can also buy a less expensive underwater encasement accessory for up to 15 feet of depth for snorkeling and there is a waterproof encasement accessory for rainy day shooting.

Canon 10MP PowerShot SD790IS suck

great camera. I can't write a very technical review.  I just have to say that I love the camera.  Very easy to use and I just had pictures that I took enlarged to 16 by 20 posters.  Very happy with the results I like  Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP .
Cute camera, has issues. I bought this camera last week after quite a bit of research, but had problems with Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP almost immediately. After taking a few pics and turning the camera on and off a few times, the camera froze and wouldn't turn back on. I ejected and re-inserted the battery, which seemed to fix the problem. However, the camera got stuck "on" a few hours later - would continue to take pics but could not be turned off.

I haven't seen any other mention of this particular problem (only the 'fatal lens error'), so I'm going to exchange Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP for the same model. Would consider another model (especially Nikon) if these problems continue, but they are a little juvenile-looking.
I love this camera!!. I love this camera.  Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP was exactly what I was looking for.  The 10 megapixel quality is amazing.  The zoom works very nicely.  I also love the different picture modes that you can use for everything from sunsets, to foliage, to indoor.  The pictures come out looking beautiful.  Also, the slim body of the camera makes Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP very portable.  I highly suggest the Slim Kroo Case to go along with Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP as well :) I put Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP in that durable case, and carry Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP everywhere with me.

Best Camera Ever. I am a novice photogropher; taking pics of the kids and grandkids and various and sundry castles and cathedrals whilst on vacation; my recent camera (Nikon) was dropped, so bye bye to that; darling hubby bought me one for my birthday; oh dear, thought I, I will never get used to this fancy gadget. Much to my surprise, I found the camera very easy to use; while I am only 1/4 through the manual, everything that I try is very intuitive. I would strongly recommend this camera; I had not read anything when Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP arrived and before I knew Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP I was zooming, popping pictures here and there; taking pics in the dark; well I could go on all day. In a nutshell, this camera is awesome. Love it; buy it. Thanks, Joyce
Canon 890IS. I'm a retired photographer with more cameras than I thought I would ever need, but I always wanted a small camera for traveling. It's hard to drag along a D2x everywhere I go. Though this is not a D2x, for my needs Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP more than does the job. Sharpness is super for close up shots of people, or objects. Outdoors Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP also shines with great resolution, and contrast. Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP can be a simple as turning Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP on and shooting, or many menu options to cover most situations.

I have had two Kodak cameras, and this one blows them out of the water. My wife grabbed my 14 megapixel Kodak for herself. So I bought this camera after seeing how my daughters Canon 890IS worked. I'm very demanding when Canon PowerShot SD880IS 10MP comes to sharp pictures. This does the job, and is very small with lots of goodies to play with.

Happy on Garmin 550 Zumo

Zumo 550. Great product. I have had this item for a month now and have used both on my MC and in my truck. Love it. Garmin Zumo 550 works fine in both places, I had previous experience with both the Hertz Neverlost System and with Enterprise system so am familiar with the use of the GPS devices. I would strongly recommend. More than expected. This is an excellent companion for motorcycle drivers, in both, city and road use. Easy to operate with gloves, robust, precise, rapid recalculation, versatil also on car's use, with a lot of additional tools that allow easy communication between a driver (helmet bluetooth) and GPS and cellular phone. As a weak point, to south america users (in Brazil specially), I recommend be careful because the Garmin maps are imprecise; I got 100 meters of error in some regions of Brazil (like Parana's state). Howewer, Garmin Zumo 550 occurs with other GPS brands and even on Google Maps (on map view, but not on - real - satellite view!). I'm sure that is a map supplier problem. With another map supplier, works fine. Great navigator, marginal manual. The navigator itself works wonderfully. I couldn't be more satisfied with the performance. The directions have been very good and the text to voice has very clear pronounciations. The manual is another story. Most of what I've learned with regard to operation of the device has been by trial and error. This biggest headache I had was getting the device to give me voice navigation prompts to my headset with bluetooth. Eventually, I noticed that there was an audio button in the bluetooth settings and this allowed me to set Garmin Zumo 550 up correctly. There is nothing in the manual about the audio button. The manual is next to useless.

Flasks: Make Great Gifts And Movie Props

Imagine this set-up in a comedy film: two men are trapped under a sewer because of some freak accident. It was just coincidence that the other character in the story has a flask with him. As the scene goes on, the two tough characters began to tell each other their life stories taking turns at a swig from the flask. After sometime, the alcoholic beverage in the flask begins to kick-in that as they go on with their stories, one of them begins to break-out and cry, which is a really funny scene.

That movie is I-Spy starring Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson. In the movie, the flask is subliminally guiding the attention of the movie-goers, while it can also act as a cue for the actor that he is about to speak his script lines. Flasks make great props in movie scenes where there is a conversation between two or three actors. This strategy has been used a number of times in Hollywood films.

Off reel, flasks, especially hip flasks, were restricted to gentlemen or people with noble birth during the old days, although, it is not so surprising to discover women with tucked flasks in their garter belts as well. It is always filled with liquor and is supposed to keep the body warm during the biting cold of winter. This use for the hip flask definitely stuck with us until today that having a hip flask tucked into ones trousers or jeans makes one look like an alcoholic. 

Today, a flask is considered as an interesting and valuable gift. It is in fact ironic that an item filled with alcohol can  also be managed to be a symbol of elegance and style. For instance, in the movie Spy Game, starring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt, the latter gave the former a flask as a gift. In the movie, the flask, old yet priceless, symbolizes the apprentice's trust, loyalty and reverence to his mentor. On the other hand, when the mentor sees the gift after he had tucked it away for so long, he realizes the meaning behind the gift and is thus propelled to act in aid of his apprentice in distress.

It is either from the sheer polish of silver or its colorful use in the movie industry that propelled the flask to popularity. You can check at any souvenir stores and you may find one or two flasks for sale. Try to look a glass lining inside to see if you have chosen a quality flask. A flask with a glass lining protects the metallic taste from mixing with the drink.

Whatever the reason behind its fame, a flask is definitely a gift that is welcomed by anyone, alcoholic or not. If MTV ever had the coolest accessory in a movie film award, it had to be a flask. No other item can handle itself better in a scene than a flask. The only problem is who will accept the award?
